Greetings,
N0GEC (former WD5FMC), George with QTH in Roxborough Park (Littleton) Colorado, USA, I am General class licence holder and have been licenced since 1977. Prior to this, I was an Avid SWL (Still do that too). My occupation is that of an Audiologist and I work for a major maufacturer of implantable hearing devices, (Cochlear Implants and Bone Anchored Hearing aids) as a research audiologist in the Clinical Affairs group. Prior to this position, I was in private practice as audiologist for 20 years, I studied at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA for my BA degree and at LSU Health Sciences University in New Orleans, LA, Finally, I completed the Doctor of Audiolgy degree at A. T. Still University, Arizona School of Health Sciences, Mesa AZ
Current equipment is and Elad FDM Duo Station. Flex 6400, Yaseu FT 817 ND and an Icom 7610. I also have a Commradio CR-1a, SDRPlay DUO and and Airspy Discovery+. Antenna is a 61 ft end fed wire at 25 ft (Live in an HOA restricted community so stealth is the plan) I also enjoy D-Star with a Kenwood TH 74 D hand held into a hotspot.
I enjoy digital modes and SSB ragchew. I spend a good deal of my time in the hobby listening (old SWL at heart). I just got into D-Star and have been enjoying the "learning curve". I reall enjoy all things SDR! Now using a Perseus SDR with Jauguar Pro sofrware to MW DX listen. Also, just discovered VARA and Vara AC.. a new digital mode to me! I struggle with FT 8 but see its place and I know lots of hams are have a ball there. I have tried and use JS8 and that is more to my liking but the VaraAC has been a blast.
